Governor Makes Major Pledge During Condolence Visit to Family, Aduge Community

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has made a major commitment to the family of late APC Chairman, Hon. Oyewole Solomon, pledging that his administration will take responsibility for the education of the deceased’s children.

Governor Ododo made the pledge on Saturday when he personally visited the family, traditional institution and people of Aduge Community in Ijumu Local Government Area to condole with them over Solomon’s death.

The Governor said the education of the children left behind by the late APC chairman would no longer be a burden for the grieving family, assuring that the state government would provide the necessary support.

He directed relevant government officials to engage the family and work out the modalities for implementing the commitment.

Ododo described Solomon’s death as a painful loss to his family, Aduge Community, the APC and the entire state, stressing that the deceased was not only a committed party man but also his personal friend and brother.

“Let us come to God. The loss of Solomon is a state loss. Solomon is part of us. We are brothers. We do things together,” the Governor said.

He explained that he was outside the state when the news of Solomon’s death reached him, which prevented him from attending the initial condolence visit. He subsequently sent his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, to represent him.

The Governor assured the bereaved family that neither he nor the government would abandon them during the difficult period, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith and take solace in God.

At the palace of the Olu of Aduge, His Royal Highness Oba Johnson Babatunde Aladuge, Ododo further assured the traditional institution and people of the community that his administration would continue to support Aduge and attend to its developmental needs. 

He also acknowledged the leadership role of Dr. Paul Fashaba, whom he described as his mentor and boss, urging the people to respect his leadership and cooperate with him for the peace and development of the community.

Responding to appeals by the community youth leader for greater government attention, appointments and opportunities, the Governor appreciated the people for their continued support.

He particularly charged the youths and women to reject anything capable of causing crisis, saying the most fitting tribute to the late Solomon would be to preserve the peace and unity for which he stood.

Governor Ododo prayed God Almighty to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and give his family and the people of Aduge the strength to bear the loss.

Earlier, the deceased’s father, Mr. Albat Oyewole, thanked the Governor and his entourage for personally visiting the family despite the earlier condolence visit by the Deputy Governor.

He expressed appreciation for the Governor’s gesture and his commitment to standing by the family at a difficult moment.
