By Rotimi Odofin The Kogi State Government has commenced a five-day free medical screening programme for staff of the Government House, the Office of the First Lady, and the Office of the Deputy Governor, as part of its commitment to promoting the health and welfare of its workforce. The exercise, scheduled to run from August 3 to 7, 2026, is taking place at the Glass House, Government House, Lokoja, and covers all security personnel, civil servants, and casual workers attached to the Government House. The screening programme comprises Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment, blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, viral screening, and eye examinations. The medical outreach is being coordinated by the Kogi State Ministry of Health under the supervision of the Honourable Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, and is aimed at promoting early detection and effective management of health conditions among staff. The medical team is led by Dr. Grace Afolabi and the Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KOSACA), Dr. Monday Ajodoh, alongside other healthcare professionals providing comprehensive medical services throughout the exercise. Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Kogi State Government for the initiative, describing it as a thoughtful intervention that demonstrates genuine concern for the wellbeing of workers.
