By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh July 31, 2026 Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has described the restoration of the Yagba West II State Constituency, as a major victory for democracy, justice and the people of Yagba West. The Governor spoke on Friday at the stakeholders' engagement meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held at the Commission's State Office in Lokoja. Governor Ododo appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his commitment to strengthening democracy and supporting strong institutions across the country. He commended INEC under the leadership of Professor Joash Amupitan SAN, for restoring the constituency in line with the Constitution and court judgment . He said the decision has reaffirmed the people's confidence in the democratic process and proved that justice can prevail through due process. The Governor congratulated the people of Yagba West, describing the development as a victory for the entire constituency and Kogi State, not for any individual or political group. "This is a victory for justice. It is a victory for fairness. Above all, it is a victory for democracy," the Governor said. He said that the restoration of the constituency would open a new chapter of greater representation, faster development and lasting progress for the people of Yagba West. Governor Ododo urged political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths and women to continue promoting peace and unity, saying sustainable development can only take place in a peaceful environment.
