Following the adoption of the Report of the Committee on the June 11, 2026 Security Breach on Campus by the Management of Prince Abubakar Audu University at its 403rd Regular Meeting held on Monday, 29 June 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has approved the appointment of retired Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Israel Sanni Ayegba as the new Chief Security Coordinator (CSC) with immediate effect. The appointment forms part of the Committee 's recommendations which called for comprehensive restructuring of the security architecture aimed at strengthening intelligence gathering, improving security coordination and preventing future security breaches on campus. CSP Ayegba is the second Chief Security Coordinator appointed in the history of the University; after Major M. J. Adama (rtd). Consequently, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr Emmanuel Onuh Attah is to, henceforth, report directly to the Chief Security Coordinator on all matters relating to the day-to-day management of security. The new CSC is expected to develop a comprehensive security framework for the University, advise Management on appropriate security policies and strategies, coordinate security operations and ensure greater efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity in the institution's security system. CSP Ayegba brings over thirty-five years of distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force, with extensive experience in intelligence gathering, crime prevention, law enforcement, conflict management, and security administration.
