The people of Egbeda-Egga community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, are not only reeling in pain but also in dire need of assistance after a devastating rainstorm ravaged the area yesterday, Tuesday, 10th March, 2026, destroying several houses and leaving many families homeless. According to Dr Emmanuel Dare Otitolaiye, President of the Egbeda-Egga Development Union (EDU), the impact of the rainstorm is severe, and the community cannot cope alone. The EDU President has therefore, appealed to the Local Government Chairman, the State Government and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to come to the aid of the affected community members, urging all stakeholders to join hands in rebuilding and recovering Egbeda-Egga. "We urge the authorities to provide immediate assistance to our people who have lost their homes, businesses, and livelihoods," Dr Otitolaiye said. "We need shelter, food, and medical aid to help our people recover from this disaster. We call on government agencies, NGOs, and philanthropists to support our relief efforts," he added. The rainstorm has caused widespread destruction, and the EDU is working to provide support to affected families. With the level of devastation caused by the rainstorm, the community members cannot bear the burden alone. The EDU President therefore, urged all stakeholders to join hands in helping the Egbeda-Egga community. It is important to emphasise that the people of Egbeda-Egga need help at the moment from government and nongovernmental organisations to enable them recover from the disaster.
