Seeking to cushion the effect of the Middle East conflict on fuel prices and transportation, Federal Government opted for CNG conversion kits.
The CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) conversion kit is a set of components installed in conventional petrol or diesel vehicles to allow them to run on natural gas.
The importance of these kits lies in their ability to offer a cleaner, more economical, and sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels, especially in environments with high fuel prices and pollution.
Furthermore, CNG has a higher octane rating and has efficacy advantage over diesel and petrol. CNG fuel burns cleanly and is non-corrosive, resulting in longevity of pipes, mufflers and spark plugs of vehicles. CNG releases fewer by-products into the motor oil, which means less frequent oil changes and lower maintenance costs.
Ultimately,it is against this scenery that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the immediate deployment of 100,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion kits across the country.

The deployment of the astronomical amount of the CNG Conversion kits is also aimed at expanding access to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cheaper and cleaner alternative to petrol.
To significantly actualize the essence of the move, President Bola specifically directed that infrastructure expansion should focus on key transportation corridors, particularly in the northern part of the country.
In order to measure up with the scope of deployment, government plans to establish a chain of refueling points along major transport routes stretching from Lokoja through Abuja, Kaduna, Zaria, and Kano up to Maiduguri.
In his stride to see to the welfare of Nigerians under his watch, President Bola expects the initiative to deliver quick results that will reduce transportation costs and improve mobility for Nigerians.
