Biography

Some leaders rise by chance, but others rise by character, consistency, and an unshakable belief in service. Mr. Timothy Ojomah (JP) belongs firmly to the second category—a man whose life story reflects resilience, humility, and a deep commitment to the people he serves.

Born on 8 June 1974 in Kaduna to a modest family with strong values, Timothy grew up understanding the power of hard work and the dignity of service. Though his roots trace back to Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State, his early experiences across different communities shaped his worldview and ignited in him a passion for leadership.

From the classrooms of Qua Iboe Primary School, Idah, to the lecture halls of Kogi State University, Timothy’s academic journey was marked by determination. He earned multiple qualifications—including an M.Sc in Management, a PGD in Management, and a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration—each one a stepping stone toward the leader he would become. His pursuit of knowledge was not merely for personal advancement, but for the purpose of serving others more effectively.

His professional journey began with the Nigerian Army Educational Branch during his NYSC year, where he served as an Instructor. Even then, his discipline, clarity of purpose, and ability to inspire others were evident. But it was in public service that his leadership truly flourished.

Between 2007 and 2016, he served twice as Supervisory Councillor for Works and Housing in Ibaji LGA, and briefly as Acting Caretaker Chairman in 2008. These roles placed him at the heart of community development, where he championed infrastructure improvements and grassroots engagement. His leadership was not about titles—it was about impact.

His commitment to agricultural development became even more pronounced when he served as a Board Member of the Kogi State Agro‑Allied Company. This experience deepened his understanding of food systems, rural livelihoods, and the transformative power of agriculture.

In 2023, destiny aligned with preparation when he was appointed Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Kogi State. In this role, he has become a driving force behind agricultural modernization, mechanization, and farmer empowerment. His participation in international missions—such as the Thailand Tractor and Agri‑Machinery Show (2023) and the Zoomlion Agricultural Machinery Expedition in China (2025)—reflects his commitment to bringing global best practices home to Kogi State.

Beyond public office, Timothy is a man of faith, a Justice of the Peace (JP), and a community builder. He has served on reconciliation committees, supported peace initiatives, and contributed to community development through leadership roles such as Secretary General of Udama Chunyogba Ibaji. His pilgrimage to Israel in 2008 further strengthened his spiritual grounding and sense of purpose.

What truly sets him apart is his humility. Despite his achievements, he remains deeply connected to his community in Idah, approachable and committed to the people he serves. His life is guided by the belief that leadership is not about power, but about responsibility.

A devoted husband and father, Mr. Ojomah balances public duty with family values, drawing strength from both. His hobbies—reading and farming—reflect a mind that seeks knowledge and a heart that remains connected to the land and its people.

Today, Mr. Timothy Ojomah (JP) stands as a symbol of dedication, integrity, and transformational leadership. His journey—from a young boy in Kaduna to a respected Commissioner in Kogi State—is a testament to what is possible when passion meets purpose, and when service becomes a calling rather than a career.

He continues to inspire many across Kogi State and beyond, proving that true leadership is built on character, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the common good.
