Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA, has marked the second anniversary of his administration with the commissioning of the Kogi State Audit House, describing the project as a bold statement of his government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and strong institutional governance.

Speaking at the event in Lokoja, Governor Ododo said the commissioning, which formed part of activities to celebrate his two years in office alongside his Deputy, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, was not just about unveiling a building but about reinforcing public trust through credible systems and responsible leadership.

The Governor thanked God for the progress recorded so far and appreciated the people of Kogi State for the opportunity to serve. He noted that from the outset, his administration resolved to anchor governance on strong institutions, transparency and due process, adding that the Audit House reflects that vision.

He paid tribute to his predecessor, former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, for conceiving the project, noting that his administration was proud to complete it for the benefit of the state.

He also commended the Kogi State House of Assembly and the State Executive Council for their support in bringing the project to fruition.
Governor Ododo described the facility as the first purpose-built Audit House in Nigeria, housing both the Office of the Auditor-General for the State and the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments in one complex. According to him, the facility will enhance efficiency, collaboration, capacity building and public financial oversight across the state.

The Governor announced a four-year capacity-building partnership with the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation at no cost to Kogi State, assuring full government support for its immediate implementation. He praised the Auditor-General for Kogi State, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, FCA, and the Auditor-General for Local Governments, Hon. Yakubu Adabenenge Siyaka, for their professionalism and dedication.

Governor Ododo also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his Renewed Hope Agenda and reforms in public finance management, which he said have strengthened accountability at all levels of government.
A highlight of the event was the presence of former Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Chief James Onanefe Ibori, CON, who performed the official commissioning.

Governor Ododo described Chief Ibori as a respected statesman and thanked him for honouring Kogi State.

In their remarks, the auditors described the Audit House as a dream fulfilled and pledged total support for the Ododo administration in ensuring prudent management of public resources across the state and local governments.

Governor Ododo reaffirmed his commitment to building institutions that protect public interest and promote sustainable development, congratulating all Kogites on the second anniversary of his administration and assuring them of more people-focused governance.
