The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr. Abdulsalam Mohammed Sagir, has reaffirmed that dedication and hard work remain the true pillars of national development. He made this known on Thursday in his office while representing the Commissioner, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, during a departmental meeting.
Engr. Sagir stressed that commitment to duty is both a priority and a reward for a progressive society. He urged departmental heads to instill discipline among their staff to achieve excellence, emphasizing the importance of unity and teamwork. According to him, everyone must take their responsibilities seriously, as the collective efforts of staff contribute significantly to the growth of the Ministry and the advancement of the State.
He further highlighted that heads of departments must lead by example, serving as role models capable of inspiring greater professionalism and productivity. “Though every department has its challenges”, Engr. Sagir noted that these should never hinder performance, as the work of nation-building must continue. He reassured staff that their welfare remains a top priority for the Ministry.
Responding on behalf of all directors, the Director of the Electrical Department, Engr. Abbas Ibrahim, pledged that they would continue to give their best despite the challenges. He expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for providing an enabling work environment and the freedom needed to carry out their duties effectively. He also thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the prompt payment of salaries, which he said has boosted morale and enhanced productivity in Kogi State and beyond.
The meeting concluded with the formal introduction of the new Director of Administration, Hajiya Lami Raliat Idakwoji, to the ministry.
