The Kogi State Ministry of Health has initiated a three-day capacity-building program focused on the management of severe malaria for secondary health facilities across the state. This initiative was officially launched by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of health workers in their efforts to eliminate malaria.

Representing the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Adeiza Abdulazeez, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr Momoh Steven Aziz, inaugurated the training program onbehalf of the Honourable Commissioner.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the program underscores the Ministry’s commitment to elevating healthcare delivery standards in Kogi State. Recognizing the critical role of secondary health facilities, which serve a significant portion of the population, the Ministry is dedicated to equipping these facilities with the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality healthcare services. This capacity-building initiative is a strategic effort to bolster the capabilities of secondary health facilities.

The training provides a platform for participants to exchange experiences, address challenges, and learn collaboratively. Participants are encouraged to fully engage in the sessions, as the knowledge and skills acquired will benefit not only the healthcare facilities but also the communities they serve.
Dr Abdulazeez Adams stated that the
Ministry acknowledges and appreciates the support and collaboration of development partners, including Famkris and other stakeholders in the health sector who have contributed to the success of this program.
He noted that “As we embark on this three-day training, let us remain focused on the ultimate objective: improving the health outcomes of our people. Participants are urged to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge gained in their daily work. ”

The Commissioner concluded by extending sincere gratitude to the Governor and the Chief Servant of the people of the State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering support and leadership especially the commitment to improving healthcare system in the state reiterating that under his leadership Kogi State has witnessed significant advancements in healthcare, reflecting on the current state of wellbeing of Kogites.
