Kogi Residents, Commuters Commend Governor Ododo for Laudable Road Projects

In fulfilment of his campaign promises and his unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people, the Chief Servant of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved, mobilised, and completed over 10 kilometres of township roads in each of the 21 local government areas of the state.

During a tour of ongoing projects with journalists in Mopa town, Mopamuro Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Engr. Muhammed Avohi Yusuf explained that the governor had directed the Kogi State Roads Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) to deliver not less than 10 kilometres of township roads in every local government.

Engr. Yusuf reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development across the state. He noted that the 10km road project in Yagba West had been completed, while similar projects were ongoing in Mopamuro and Yagba East LGAs.

“We are here to showcase what His Excellency is doing in terms of road infrastructure. In Mopa town, we are constructing 10 kilometres of township roads. Already, four kilometres of asphalt have been laid, and the earthwork for the entire stretch has been completed. Once the rains are over, the remaining six kilometres will be fully asphalted,” Yusuf assured.

On his part, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo emphasized that the Ododo administration was deliberately decentralizing development to reach rural areas.

He said before now that projects were concentrated in urban areas. But today, rural communities are feeling the impact of good governance. “The Chief Servant is committed to ensuring that development reaches the grassroots, and the rural people are very grateful for these laudable projects,” Fanwo stated.

He further appealed to citizens to take ownership of the projects by protecting them from vandalism, noting that while the government provides infrastructure, it is the responsibility of the people to ensure sustainability.

In Kabba, the commissioners also inspected the newly completed erosion control project, which has successfully saved the town from perennial flooding.

Residents across the senatorial district expressed their gratitude to Governor Ododo for the interventions.

Mr. Daniel Tope, a resident of Ileteju, Mopamuro, lauded the governor for reconstructing a road and collapsed bridge that had been abandoned for years, linking his community to others. He pledged the community’s continued support for the administration.

Similarly, Mr. Adebosin Bolanle, speaking on behalf of the people of Mopa, thanked the governor for road projects that have improved access for local farmers and eased transportation of produce to the markets.

In Kabba, another resident, Mr. Ojo Sunday Martins commended the governor for both township road construction and gully erosion control, describing the projects as life-saving interventions that have protected the community from devastating floods.

The residents collectively affirmed that Governor Ododo’s projects are transforming lives across Kogi State and strengthening the confidence of the people in his administration.
