As one of the final activities marking the 2025 Kogi State Civil Service Week themed “Igniting Digital Transformation”, the Head of Civil Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, FCA, today led a symbolic tree-planting exercise at the Kogi State Secretariat Complex, Lokoja.
The exercise, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and beautification of government premises, brought together Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and other top government officials, as well as members of staff from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
In his remarks, Dr. Evinemi noted that the tree-planting initiative was more than just a ceremonial gesture; it symbolized the government’s commitment to creating a healthier, greener, and more sustainable working environment for civil servants and the general public.
“Just as we nurture these trees to grow strong and provide shade, we must also nurture our civil service to remain vibrant, innovative, and resilient in meeting the demands of the 21st century,” he said. “As these trees are planted and continue to grow, may the Kogi State Civil Service also continue to grow in strength, excellence, and service to our people. Environmental responsibility is part of good governance, and this exercise reminds us of our duty to preserve our ecosystem for future generations.”
The Head of Civil Service further called on all civil servants to imbibe the culture of environmental care by planting trees in their homes, communities, and workplaces, stressing that small actions collectively lead to a big impact.
