The Kogi State Ministry of Works continues to distinguish itself as a pillar of development, driving transformative infrastructure projects that significantly enhance the quality of life for her people across the state.
In its undeterred commitment to service excellence, the Ministry has taken bold strides to ensure that Kogites and Nigerians at large benefit from durable, accessible road networks, enabling the smooth transitioning of goods and people while laying a solid foundation for sustainable socio-economic growth.
The Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to high standards and uncompromising ethics in the construction and maintenance of road networks. Speaking with journalists at his office, the Commissioner emphasized that the Ministry remains resolute in delivering quality infrastructure that guarantees the safety of lives and property across the state.
He stated that the present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Usman Ododo, is relentless in its efforts to provide first-rate roads across all 21 Local Government Areas in Kogi State. He commended Governor Ododo for his consistent commitment to funding infrastructure development, which has made these projects possible.
Highlighting the Ministry’s achievements, Hon. Engr. Mohammed listed several completed and operational roads, including:
The dual carriage Barracks–Zongo–GYB Junction Road with street lighting
Zone 8 Crusher Road
CUSTECH Internal Road Network
Kabba Township Road
Yagba East Internal Road, among others.
He further revealed that construction has commenced on one of the newest projects, the Idah Township Road, which was recently flagged off.
The custodian of work equally urged host communities to take ownership of the projects and adopt a strong maintenance culture of the roads constructed in their areas. He encouraged residents to protect these assets and report any act of vandalism to the appropriate authorities.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf was recently honoured with the “Best Performing Commissioner of Works in the North Central Zone” by the Personal Profile Programme on NTA Lokoja. While receiving the award, the Commissioner expressed his gratitude and pledged to continue delivering excellence in service, describing the recognition as a powerful motivation to exceed expectations.
