Youths from Kogi State have successfully completed an intensive training program in soilless farming at a specialized lab in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The training, fully sponsored by the Kogi State Government, was designed to equip the participants with modern, sustainable agricultural skills and knowledge.

The returning trainees now possess hands-on expertise in soilless farming — an innovative and climate-smart agricultural technique that enables crop production without the use of soil. This method is known for its ability to improve crop yields, reduce water usage, and enhance sustainable farming practices.

The Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojomah, ably represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, was on ground to receive the returning participants. He congratulated them on successfully completing their training and encouraged them to apply their newly acquired knowledge to boost agricultural productivity and contribute meaningfully to food security in Kogi State.

Hon. Ojomah emphasized that the Kogi State Government’s initiative to sponsor this training highlights its strong commitment to modernizing agriculture and empowering the youth with practical skills that foster economic growth and food sufficiency.

The return of the trainees marks a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to promote innovative agricultural practices. They are expected to share their knowledge with other farmers across the state, further driving the adoption of soilless farming and transforming the state’s agricultural landscape.

This investment in youth development and sustainable farming technologies is a bold step toward building a more productive, self-reliant, and food-secure Kogi State.
