Youths in kogi state have been urged to work hard and take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way to shaping their future

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo made the call in Lokoja, in a message to Youth Interactive session organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development as part of activities to mark this year’s Democracy Day, with the theme, twenty six years of Democracy : Renewing Our Commitment to National Development.

Represented by the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Suleiman Abdulrazak, Governor Ododo said it was the responsibility of everyone not just government alone to play their parts towards national development.

The Governor stressed the need for youths to take advantage of the activities in the mining sector in the state to better their future.

The State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu places premium on youth empowerment, innovation, job creation and inclusive governance, ensuring that the Nigerian youths were not left behind in development processes.

Hon. Monday Anyebe said the government under the leadership of Governor Ododo had localized this vision through consolidation and continuity through strategic engagement and empowerment programmes.

According to him, the Governor has consistently demonstrated commitment to uplifting young people through skills acquisition programmes, youth inclusion in governance, sports development and enterprise support initiatives.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Information And Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, who was represented at the event by the Director Information Services in the Ministry,, Alhaji Ademu Seidu Haruna urged the youths to ensure they participate in all democratic processes so that democracy will continue to thrive in the Country.

The key note speaker at the event, Doctor Olayemi Michael Sunday said Democracy Day celebration was a day geared towards reawakening a national consciousness, stressing that Democracy in Nigeria was growing and developing.

He stressed that youths remain the defenders and drivers of democracy whose voices must rise above sentiments and mistrust.

Doctor Olayemi who explained that the political class should govern not by force, but by example, appealed to them to build institutions and ensure transparency in governance.
