His Excellency, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has significantly impacted the agricultural sector in the state by providing support and initiatives to farmers across all 21 local government areas through the Value Chain Development Programs Commodity Fair.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Timothy Ojomah, officially launched the annual FGN/IFAD Programme in Lokoja, emphasizing its goal of creating a conducive environment for smallholder farmers to enhance food security and productivity in Kogi State.

The 2024 edition of the annual commodity fair for Value Chain operators, in collaboration with the State Government, highlights the shared commitment to improving food security, showcasing agricultural products, and promoting knowledge exchange.

Mr. Ojomah highlighted that this initiative is part of Governor Ododo’s efforts to empower smallholder farmers at the grassroots level. The state government’s partnership with FGN/IFAD-VCDP-AF has significantly increased food sufficiency and productivity by providing equipment, inputs, loans, and other incentives to farmers in Kogi.

Furthermore, the VCDP distributed equipment, such as grinding machines, to people with disabilities (PWDs) and vulnerable widows in the five benefiting local government areas in Kogi, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and support for marginalized groups.

Mr. Ojomah reiterated Governor Ahmed Ododo’s administration’s dedication to assisting rural farmers by continuing to support VCDP activities to maximize agricultural production and ensure food security in the state.

He commended the state program coordinator, Dr. Stella Adejoh, and her team for their unwavering dedication, noting that under her leadership, Kogi’s rural farmers have greatly benefited from the VCDP.
