Kogi State has So far secured three medals at the ongoing eighth National Youth Games in Asaba, 2024. The medals include one gold and two bronzes, with the latest bronzes coming from the table tennis event.

Ize Sezau and Samuel Dada were the athletes who clinched the bronze medals in the table tennis girls singles and table tennis boys singles categories, respectively. Unfortunately, Ize was defeated by her counterpart from Lagos, while Samuel was bested by his competitor from Oyo State in the semi-finals.

Coach Friday Abah, speaking to the press after the duo’s third-place victory, commended their hard work but expressed a desire for the gold medal.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Monday A Anyebe, congratulated the athletes on their achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for success.

Hon. Monday A Anyebe also urged all Kogi State athletes to give their best efforts in order to bring home more medals.

He expressed confidence that the team will continue to excel as the competition progresses.
