The Kogi State Government is dedicated to enhancing public health through various initiatives. The Ministry of Health recently organized a Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) training program to further this commitment.

The event occurred at the Ayenete Hotel in Lokoja and brought together more than 60 participants from healthcare facilities across the state. Dr. Abdulazeez Adeiza Adams, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, stressed the significance of nutrition in the first 1000 days of life. He commended the participants for their dedication to expanding maternal and child nutrition knowledge. He urged them to use their expertise to impact their work and communities positively.

Dr. Abdulazeez Adams expressed gratitude to the organisers, trainers, and sponsors for their unwavering dedication to the health and well-being of the people of Kogi State. He congratulated the participants on their accomplishments and encouraged them to continue promoting maternal and child nutrition.

Mrs. Mokeku Omoluabi Grace, the Director of Nutrition at the Federal Ministry of Health, praised the Kogi State Government for its efforts to enhance nutrition. She encouraged participants to create work plans to implement their newfound knowledge in their facilities. The MIYCN project in Kogi State has provided training to over 60 participants, who will now disseminate this knowledge in their respective facilities.

The training program, facilitated by the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) project, aims to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to address malnutrition effectively. Through these initiatives, the Kogi State Government is taking proactive steps to improve public health and well-being in the region.
