Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has provided assurance of effective disaster management and protection against the impact of natural disasters in Nigeria.
This commitment was reiterated during the reception of the report from the Technical Working Group of the Ad-hoc Committee on Flood and Other Nature-Induced Disasters (Mitigation, Adaptation, Preparedness, and Response) of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the Kogi State Governors Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja over the weekend.
Governor Ododo emphasized the significance of the report in bolstering the federal government’s dedication to addressing challenges in the management of natural disasters in the country.
He acknowledged the diligent efforts of the Technical Working Group, led by the Honourable Minister of State for Water Resources, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Goronyo, in compiling the report.
The Governor highlighted the report as a pivotal step towards developing a national roadmap for proactive management of nature-induced disasters in Nigeria.
He thanked the Technical Working Group for their hard work and dedication to the national assignment.
Given the approaching rainy season, Governor Ododo stressed the timeliness of the report and the importance of its recommendations in finding lasting solutions to the challenges posed by adverse climatic events in communities nationwide.
Governor Ododo entrusted the report to the Committee’s Secretariat to finalise a comprehensive national roadmap based on the findings of the Technical Working Group.
This roadmap will be presented to Vice President Kashim Shettima and the National Economic Council for further action and implementation.
The commitment to effective disaster management in Nigeria remains a top priority for Governor Ododo and the government as they work towards safeguarding the safety and well-being of communities nationwide.
