The Kogi State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, under the leadership of Hon. Rabietu Okute (Iye Ebule Onyete), recently defended its 2024 budget before the esteemed members of the State House of Assembly.
Hon. Rabietu Okute commenced the session by introducing herself to the Honourable Speaker and other members of the House. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to present the Ministry’s plans for the upcoming year.
In her opening statements, Hon. Rabietu Okute extended her condolences to the House over the recent loss of their principal officer, Late Hon. Enema Paul. She described his passing as a significant loss to the state and offered heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues.
Furthermore, Hon. Rabietu Okute expressed her appreciation to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, for appointing her as a member of his cabinet. She highlighted the Governor’s commitment to inclusive governance and equitable representation across the state.
During the budget defense, Hon. Rabietu Okute emphasized the challenges faced by the newly established Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. She underscored the critical role of the Ministry in addressing poverty, empowering vulnerable groups, and responding to humanitarian needs in Kogi State. Despite resource constraints, she assured the House of her unwavering dedication to fulfilling the Ministry’s mandate.
