Kogi State Government has officially inaugurated the Technical Committee on the Nigeria for Women Project, aimed at enhancing women’s empowerment. The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Fatimah Momoh, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Nigeria for Women Project Multi-sectoral Coordinating Structure, led the inauguration ceremony at the Ministry’s Conference Hall.
The inauguration of the State Technical Committee marks the beginning of the Nigeria for Women Project Scale Up, a collaborative effort between the World Bank and the Federal Government to improve the livelihoods of women and overcome barriers to their prosperity. In her address, the Honorable Commissioner outlined the responsibilities of the State Technical Committee and emphasized the importance of driving meaningful change through the project. She highlighted Kogi State’s commitment to the project under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, with counterpart funding already secured for office accommodation and other administrative needs.
The State Technical Committee was urged to carry out their duties diligently and adhere to the guiding principles of the project. Any individual found to be acting against the government’s intentions for the project will face appropriate sanctions.
She said, “The inaugurated committee members are; Itodo Yusuf Danjuma, Acting Permanent Secretary (MWASD) , Chairman Dr. Esther Ameadaji, State Project Co-ordinator (NFWP SU) – Secretary Mechoro S. Yakubu, Director Women Affairs (MWASD) – Member Ocheja Sarah Echa, Director Budget (Ministry of Finance) – Member CSP Aishat Abdulrahman, (Kogi State Police Command) – Member Amayi A. Michael, Director Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) – Member Ojo Janet, Deputy Director (Agricultural Development Project) – Member Eseyin F Mary, Director (Ministry of Agriculture) – Member The Chairman of the committee thanked the Hon. Commissioner for entrusting the committee with such an important assignment, assuring her of a successful implementation of the project.
The inauguration ceremony marked a significant milestone for Women Project Scale Up (NFWP SU) and the alleviation of poverty in kogi state and Nigeria.
