The Kogi State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development,Hon. AbanikaTaiye,has successfully convened an inaugural harmonization meeting with key stakeholders, including the Bureau of Lands, Town Planning Development Board, and government appointees on land and urban matters.

The meeting, which took place on Monday in Lokoja on January 13, 2025, brought together representatives from various agencies and government appointees to discuss crucial topics that could enhance housing and urban development in the state.

In his address, Hon Abanika emphasized the purpose of integration, synergy, roles and responsibilities, policy alignment, coordination mechanism, current challenges, work plan development, and resource allocation as catalysts that could enhance housing development and urban renewal in the State.

The meeting marked a significant milestone in the Ministry’s efforts to foster collaboration and synergy among stakeholders.

further commended the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, for giving serious attention to Housing Development and Urban Renewal in the State.

In his words “I thank His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his good work for the state, for giving serious attention to Housing Development and Urban Renewal in the State.”

“I thank his administration of consolidation and continuity of the past administration; I also thank the past administration of our able leader, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, who laid a very strong pedestal for the present administration. His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in his magnanimity upon assumption into office, created the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to tackle the housing deficit in the state and Urban Development, for this reason, we are expected to work together in harmony to bring the expected results for the Governor ” he said

The Commissioner further revealed the importance of supporting Governor Ododo’s mission and vision for the state. He stressed that harmonization and synergy are crucial for achieving the Government’s objectives and delivering benefits to the citizens.

The Commissioner further outlined a comprehensive work plan to ensure that the proposed policies and laws are duly signed into law, to enable the Ministry achieve its aims.

Also speaking during the meeting, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Obadaki Zainab (ESV), commended His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continuous good gesture and the Commissioner for convening the strategic meeting, emphasizing its timelines and importance. She noted that the harmonization of stakeholders is crucial to achieving the state’s housing development goals.

The meeting was well attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Lands, ESV Baiyegunsi.S.Taiwo,who represented the Director General Bureau of Lands,
the General Manager Town Planning Development Board, TPL Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands Matter, Hon.Shuaib Ipinmisho, and Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development, Hon. Kayode .O. John with other government appointees in attendance.

The meeting indeed provided valuable insights and expertise to the discussion, which would in turn produce robust results for the speedy development of the State.
