Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved the sum of N316m as Bursary for Eight Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty students already cleared by the Kogi State Scholarship Board.

This follows an online application that has been adjudged to be the most transparent in the administration of bursary for students in the state.

The Commissioner For Education, Wemi Jones who made the disclosure in Lokoja noted that students of Kogi state origin completing their Law degrees in law schools will receive the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira each while undergraduate students studying in various higher institutions will receive the Thirty Thousand Naira each.

The Commissioner also announced that Governor Ododo has approved the construction of a Senate building, faculty buildings and student hostels at the Kogi State University, Kabba among other infrastructural interventions in the university.

He noted that the approval for the construction of key projects in the institution that amounts to eight billion naira in line with the Governor’s commitment to improve the education sector in the state.

Similarly, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has presented a 5 million Naira complementary scholarship award to Miss Favour Oluwatimilehin Adebayo, in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement which led to her securing the prestigious European Union ERASMUS+Scholarship to study in Poland.

Governor Ododo commended Miss Oluwatimilehin for her hard work, determination and academic excellence.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, noted that the gesture is in line with the commitment of the administration Governor Ododo to promote education and provide opportunities for young Kogites to excel on the global stage.

On his part, the Chairman, Kogi State Scholarship Board noted that the complimentary scholarship is in line with the commitment of the state government to ensure that Kogi Students succeed and to ameliorate the economic challenges faced by students in the state.

In her response, Oluwatimilehin who was represented by her father, Moses Adebayo expressed immense gratitude to the Governor for the scholarship support stressing that the effort of the present administration to revamp the education sector translates to building the future of the state and the next generation.
