Kogi State Government says it will continue to support initiatives aimed at repositioning education.

The State Commissioner of Education, Mr Wemi Jones made the remark in a message to declare open, the 2025 matriculation of new students of the Kogi State study centre of the National Teachers Institute, NTI, held in Lokoja.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Mrs Omolayo Berikisu Onozare said the training of teachers cannot be compromised under any guise, emphasizing that the future of children lies in the hands of the teachers.

The Commissioner appealed to the students to remain committed to the course, noting that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has given much budgetary allocation to education sector in view of its importance.

Wemi Jones congratulated the matriculating students on their successful admission into the Institute, adding that revamping education is a must for the present administration in the State.

In his Speech, the Director General and Chief Executive of National Teachers Institute, Professor Sadiya Sani Daura stated that the programmes have been designed to equip the students with necessary skills towards national growth and development.

Professor Sadiya who was represented by the Kogi State Coordinator of NTI, Alhaji Tijani Yusuf said NTI will remain committed to quality education and training to teachers and educators.

She warned the students against all forms of indiscipline, emphasizing that the institute would not condone any form of misconduct, but urged them to be impactful in their lifetime after the training.

The Director News and Publications in Kogi State Ministry of Information and Communications, Doctor Samuel Atuluku noted that deliberate efforts needed to be put in place to cause attitudinal change among the younger generation, saying that the rate of what he described as “get rich quick syndrome” was a thing of concern.

Doctor Samuel Atuluku appealed to parents to ensure proper discipline of their children and wards in order to change the narrative and ensure they have a greater future.

Others in their goodwill messages commended staff for their professional conduct as exemplified so far, assuring that as stakeholders, they will continue to support the body in the general interest of the State.
