In a move aimed at promoting academic excellence and encouraging students in Mopamuro and Kogi State at large, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, has awarded a N1,000,000 education grant to Oluwi Oluseyi Matthew, a native of Mopamuro Local Government Area, who scored an impressive 337 and whosoever scored highest in the just concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). N500,000 to Oluseyi and N500,000 to whosoever come out with the highest score.

Hon. Fanwo announced in a statement released today in Lokoja, describing Oluseyi’s exceptional performance as a shining example of the brilliance and determination that define the people of Mopamuro.

“This is what we are known for in Mopamuro: brilliance and excellence. Congratulations, my boy. You have done us proud by placing our local government among the elites,” Fanwo stated.

He praised the student for bringing honor and recognition to Mopamuro through academic achievement and called on other students in the state to emulate Oluseyi’s commitment, integrity, and work ethic. He also urged them to steer clear of cultism, crime, and other social vices.

“I am proud of you, and Mopamuro is proud of you. This is the direction we want our young people to follow,” he added.

Hon. Fanwo pledged that the education grant would be redeemed immediately upon presentation of Oluseyi’s admission letter and whosoever come out as the highest in the local government.

“On behalf of the KFF Foundation Family, I announce a donation of N1,000,000 to you and whosoever come out the highest, N500,000 each, redeemable once your admission letters are submitted,” he affirmed.

In his remarks, Hon. Fanwo also commended the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued investment in the education sector. He lauded the governor’s support for students, including the provision of scholarships to those who scored 280 and above in the 2025 UTME, and for fostering a conducive learning environment from primary to tertiary level.
