The Kogi State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, organized the inaugural Stakeholders Engagement Meeting to address key issues such as the implementation of IMPACT PROJECTS in Kogi State, Federal and State Government interventions in Primary Health Care, the importance of local government and community awareness and ownership, as well as the role of traditional rulers and religious leaders in strengthening the health system and achieving universal health coverage.

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, was represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu, who expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and commitment to Primary Health Care nationwide. The Governor also commended Governor Ododo for his efforts in revitalizing the healthcare system in the state.

The State Government reiterated its commitment to revitalizing the Primary Health Care system by reviving 70 Primary Health Centers with the support of the World Bank, with an additional 88 centers in progress. The Governor expressed appreciation for the support of development partners in this endeavor.

Dr. Muazu Omeiza Musa, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, highlighted the importance of improving the health and well-being of the people of the state in his welcome address.

While speaking, he highlighted that in order to strengthen primary health care as a cornerstone of health system, is to ensure that there is accessible, affordable and quality health care for all.
Continuously, the implementation of Impact Projects in Kogi State is the way to strengthen the Primary Health Care system and improve service delivery.
Also, the Executive Director in his presentation on the Local Government and Community Awareness and Ownership, laid emphasis on the strategies to promote community engagement and ownership of primary health care initiatives.
-The implementation of Primary Health Care under one roof (
– Provisions for standard PHC delivery
– Ensure appropriate training of health care workers at all levels.

During his presentation, Dr. Abdulazeez Adeiza Adams, the Hon. Commissioner for Health, stressed on the three key focus of the ceremony:
-Federal and Kogi State Government Intervention on PHC; the need for Local Government and Community awareness and ownership of primary health care initiatives.
-The role of traditional rulers and religious leaders in strengthening the health system and achieving universal health coverage.

The Ex. Sec. KSHIA- Dr. Aledare Adekunle, also gave a presentation on he role of traditional rulers and religious leaders in strengthening the health system and achieving universal health coverage.

Presentation by Dr. Hadiya Ahmed- IMPACT Case Manager Immunization on IMPACT PROJECT in the State. Its performance, status, challenges and way forward to strengthening primary health care system and improving service delivery in the State.

In a separate goodwill message, HRM Alh. Ahmad Tijjani Anaje- The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, religious leaders, development partners and stakeholders; and other traditional rulers present, expressed their utmost gratitude to the State Government, the State Ministry of Health and the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency for their provision of adequate health care in the State.
They hoped that it would continue as to improve the lives of the people. They pledged their continuous and maximum support to the Kogi State Government in relation to the health sector across the State.

The purpose of the ceremony was to collaborate, strategize, inform and take necessary and actionable steps towards addressing the challenges in delivering effective and efficient health services.
The event took place at the Reverton Hotel, Lokoja, Kogi State.
