Kogi State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones has called on the Enumerators and Supervisors for the 2024/2025 Kogi State Annual School Census to do a thorough job, warning that the Ministry would not tolerate armchair enumeration.
He made the call on Wednesday in Lokoja at a two day training workshop organized by the State Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education for Enumerators, Assistant Supervisors and Supervisors.
The Commissioner said the time of armchair Enumeration is over, saying that the State Government has committed a huge amount of funds for the exercise and would not allow it to fail.
According to him, the State Government would not tolerate a situation where people would sit in hotels to cook up figures, noting that the Ministry would do as much as possible to monitor all the Enumerators on the field .
The State he said needed the Data not just for planning but also to comply with the global trends of Data Digitalization.
He called on all the Stakeholders to ensure that the exercise was successful.
Speaking earlier, the acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Mrs. Omolayo Berikisu called on everyone that would be involved in the Census Exercise to see the work as a call to duty, explaining that data generated from the exercise would be the basis for policy formulation and implementation.
In her welcome address, the Director Educational Planning Research and Statistics Dr. Animoku Ahman Elizabeth tasked the Enumerators to do the work with all seriousness,
Saying that being a critical Stakeholders in the census exercise required them to up their games to ensure the exercise succeeded.
In her words, ” You are the critical Stakeholders in the Census exercise, you have the power to make or mar the process, do not fail us.”
The Enumerators she said were carefully selected for the job and urged them not to let the State down.
