In a swift response to the plight of flood victims in Kogi State, Governor Usman Ododo has authorized the distribution of urgent relief materials across 42 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. This decisive move comes as relief for thousands affected by the recent devastating floods in nine (9) local government areas.

During the delivery of the essential supplies, Hon. Rabietu Okute, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, emphasized the scale of the situation and the ministry’s commitment to aiding those in need.

“More items are arriving, and we are dedicated to ensuring that they reach every village and community impacted by the floods,” she stated.

The relief packages, according to the Commissioner include rice, semovita, mattresses, buckets, and essential medications amongst others demonstrates the government’s commitment not just to relief but also to human dignity. Hon. Okute, accompanied by a team of staff and security personnel to oversee the distribution, praised Governor Ododo for his prompt intervention.

“His quick action shows his deep concern and empathy for the well-being of our residents during this challenging time,” she remarked.

While addressing the displaced individuals, Hon. Okute encouraged them not to lose hope, stressing that the ministry would vigilantly monitor the distribution process to ensure the aid reaches those who need it most. She recognized the emotional struggle faced by the victims but assured them that this initiative will help alleviate their sufferings and provide succour to them.
