In a bid to enhance performance and strengthen dedication to service delivery, the Permanent Secretary of the Kogi State Ministry of Health, Mr. Momoh Aziz Steven, conducted an unscheduled inspection across all departments and units of the Ministry. The exercise was aimed at ensuring staff punctuality and full presence at their respective duty posts.
Accompanied by the Director of Administration, Mrs. Josephine Babatunde, and the Information Officer, Mr. Rotimi Odofin, the Permanent Secretary visited each office and department, requesting comprehensive nominal rolls detailing staff names and designations.
Mr. Steven expressed satisfaction with the general level of attendance observed during the inspection and commended staff members who were present at their duty posts. He, however, stressed that such impromptu inspections would become a routine exercise to sustain discipline and efficiency within the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary noted that the administration of Ahmed Usman Ododo has introduced proactive measures to improve the welfare of civil servants in the state. He emphasized that it is only fair and reasonable for staff to reciprocate the government’s goodwill through renewed commitment, diligence, and professionalism.
He directed that employees not found at their duty posts without valid authorization would be issued formal queries to explain their absence.
During the inspection, Mr. Steven also ordered the immediate cessation of the practice of rotating workdays among staff and casual workers. Henceforth, all personnel under the Ministry are required to report to work every official working day without exception.
The Permanent Secretary further emphasized that leaving the office before official closing hours is unacceptable. Staff members must obtain written approval from the appropriate authority before embarking on any casual or medical leave.
He assured employees that their concerns would continue to receive attention from the Ministry’s management and the state government in order of priority. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of civil servants through additional support packages expected in the near future.
