The Kogi State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, on Tuesday described the commissioning of the Kogi State Audit House Complex as a bold institutional milestone that revealed Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability and strong governance systems.
Speaking at the official commissioning in Lokoja as part of activities marking the administration’s second anniversary, the Commissioner said the project reflects the Governor’s deliberate focus on strengthening public institutions through purpose-built infrastructure that enhances efficiency and oversight.
Hon. Abanika noted that the Audit House Complex is an architectural masterpiece designed with two distinct wings, one housing the Office of the State Auditor-General and the other the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government; a design, he said, that clearly demonstrates the administration’s respect for the independence and effectiveness of audit institutions within Kogi’s governance architecture.
“Beyond its structural elegance, this facility provides a conducive and professional working environment that will enhance operational efficiency, promote synergy and strengthen oversight in the management of public resources at both the state and local government levels,” the Commissioner stated.
He disclosed that the project was executed by Silverpros Construction Limited, commending the firm for its professionalism, technical competence and strict adherence to quality standards.
According to him, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development closely supervised the project to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, timelines and value-for-money principles.
Hon. Abanika emphasized that the Audit House stands as further proof of Governor Ododo’s resolve to equip critical institutions with the infrastructure required to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively, stressing that accountability thrives when institutions are properly empowered.
While appreciating the Governor for the confidence reposed in the Ministry, the Commissioner also acknowledged the cooperation of stakeholders throughout the construction period, noting that such collaboration contributed to the successful delivery of the project.
He congratulated Governor Ododo on the successful marking of two years in office, describing him as “the people’s Governor and Chief Servant of Kogi State,” whose leadership continues to prioritise transparency, good governance and people-focused development.
“The commissioning of this Audit House stands as a clear testament to his vision for a transparent and progressive Kogi State,” Hon. Abanika said, offering prayers for divine wisdom and guidance for the Governor as he leads the state to greater heights.
The event drew top government officials, legislators, traditional rulers and stakeholders, further highlighting the significance of the project in Kogi State’s ongoing governance reforms.
