The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) and National Chairman of the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria (FOSIECON), Mamman Nda Eri, has called for deeper collaboration between government institutions and civil society actors to drive sustainable development in Kogi State.

Speaking at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Kogi NGO Network (KONGONET), held in Lokoja, the KOSIEC Chairman praised the organization for its continued efforts in fostering dialogue and partnerships that promote inclusive governance and community development.

The AGM, themed “Synergy for Socio-Economic Development: Uniting State and Non-State Actors for Greater Impact in Kogi State”, brought together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss collective approaches to social progress.

Describing the theme as timely and relevant, Mr. Eri emphasized the need for government agencies, civil society groups, and community-based organizations to work together with a unified purpose.

“Citizens are not just voters; they are stakeholders in the democratic process. Only through synergy of ideas, strategies, and actions can we entrench credible electoral processes and ensure true grassroots development”, he said.

The KOSIEC Chairman reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening voter education, increasing electoral participation, and enhancing transparency through collaboration with organizations such as KONGONET.

He also paid tribute to Ambassador Idris Ozovehe, the outgoing Chairman of KONGONET, lauding his visionary leadership and dedication to service. Mr. Eri credited Ambassador Ozovehe with deepening advocacy efforts and building strong institutional partnerships during his tenure.

“Ambassador Ozovehe has been a bridge-builder and a formidable voice in Kogi’s development space. His legacy will inspire future leadership within and beyond KONGONET,” Mr. Eri stated.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman called on all stakeholders to embrace partnerships that transcend institutional boundaries and prioritize inclusive, people-centered development.

“No single institution, state or non-state can achieve the kind of impact we desire for Kogi State alone,” he concluded.

The AGM ended with renewed commitments from participants to strengthen collaboration for the collective progress of Kogi State.
