The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has garnered widespread praise from labor leaders for his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving workers’ welfare in the state. This commendation was expressed during an exclusive dinner and roundtable discussion between the Deputy Governor, Joel Salifu, and labor leaders at the Deputy Governor’s official residence in Lokoja today.
Deputy Governor Salifu hailed Governor Ododo as a visionary leader, attributing the harmonious relationship between labor unions and the government to the governor’s exemplary leadership style. Salifu emphasized the governor’s dedication to prioritizing workers’ welfare and assured that this momentum would be sustained.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Labor Matters, Hon. Onuh Edoka, highlighted that the dinner marked a significant milestone and urged the labor leaders to continue collaborating with the government to uphold peace, harmony, and progress within the state.
Comrade Gabriel Amari, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labor Congress, praised the state government for its improved disbursement of civil servants’ salaries and pensions, implementation of a minimum wage of ₦72,500, and harmonization and augmentation of pensions. Amari declared that Kogi State serves as a pioneering example for proper minimum wage implementation among the 36 states of the federation.
The labor leaders pledged their unwavering support for the current administration’s achievements and vowed to enhance their reelection campaign with steadfast dedication and enthusiasm.
