The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has confirmed that Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has upheld his commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election in Kogi State.

Hon. Fanwo made this announcement after casting his vote in his hometown, Takete Ide Amuro. He commended the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) for their outstanding work in training competent ad-hoc staff and ensuring the timely delivery of electoral materials to polling units across the state.

“The KOSIEC has performed exceptionally well,” Hon. Fanwo stated. “Polling materials were delivered as early as 7:30 am, and the polls commenced promptly. This is a testament to their hard work and dedication.”

Hon. Fanwo urged the electorate to maintain peace and calm, emphasizing that democracy is about celebrating the fundamental right to vote. With 19 political parties on the ballot, the people are free to choose their preferred party without any coercion. This embodies the true spirit of democracy.

The Electoral Officer of Mopamuro LGA, Mr. Obajemu Tope, also praised the election process, noting that Kogi State had never experienced such a peaceful and credible poll. Hon. Mark Dayo Samuel, an APC council aspirant for Takete/Otafun ward 07, lauded KOSIEC for ensuring a free and fair election and expressed his readiness to deliver local dividends of democracy to his constituents if elected.

Governor Ododo’s dedication to a free, fair, and credible election has been unwavering, as evidenced by his previous statements. His administration’s emphasis on transparency and accountability has been acknowledged, with the Kogi State website being rated as the top-performing website among all APC states in Nigeria.
