The Annual Operational Plan (AOP) will be comprehensively executed by the State Ministry of Health, under the leadership of Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, this was the admonition by the Coordinating Commissioner for Health at the unveiling ceremony of the 2026 Annual Operation Plan for the state health sector. The Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Steven Momoh Aziz. At the unveiling event in Lokoja.
The Permanent Secretary assured that the Kogi State government through the Commissioner for Health is committed to ensuring that the AOP is diligently implemented to the letter for the good of the people of Kogi State .
In his remarks at the event,
Mr. Johnson Aiyedogbon, Director of Health Planning, Research, and Statistics, emphasized that the AOP is aligned with national health sector strategic blueprints. The state budget is synchronized with the AOP to effectively implement health sector initiatives in Kogi State.
According to him the alignment is expected to enhance health sector performance outcomes for 2026, supported by the collaborative efforts of the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to achieve unified objectives for improved health outcomes in the state.
With the unavailing and dissemination of the 2026 AOP ceremony, the AOP has been established as the official document guiding the state health sector’s roadmap and performance indicators.
Also speaking the SWAP desk officer Dr Emmanuel Bola Jonah in his overview of the AOP noted that The development process of the AOP was seamless, with significant contributions from all the Health MDAs in the state. He disclosed that the final AOP document, includes substantial inputs for Human resources for health, infrastructure development, programmatic interventions and equipment needs, incorporating vital inputs from the local government level and primary health care facilities, marking a bottom-up planning inputs.
He emphasized that The AOP is crucial for the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAP) implementation in the health sector at national, state, and local government levels.
In their Contributions and good will messages, Dr. Aledare Adekunle; The Executive Director Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KSHIA); and Dr. Monday Ajodoh; Executive Secretary Kogi State Agency for the control of AIDs (KOSACA) applauded the process of the AOP development and commended all key actors for their dedication, they applauded the alignment of the 2026 AOP with the state Budget.
The ceremony was attended by heads of health MDAs in the state and other key stakeholders across the State and Local Government Areas.
