  1. Kogi Government Launches Nigeria for Women Project’s Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Structure Committee

.The Kogi State Government has established a high-powered Seven-Member Steering Committee to oversee the implementation of a Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Structure for the Nigeria for Women Project.

During the inauguration of the Committee in her Office in Lokoja on Thursday, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, Ph.D, Secretary to the Government of Kogi State (SGS), highlighted that the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up is a World Bank assisted Project in collaboration with the Federal and State Government. The project aims to promote Women Affinity Groups and other platforms for women’s economic empowerment, as well as enhance the economic opportunities for unbanked women.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has demonstrated his commitment to women’s empowerment by providing the necessary funding to enable women in the state to benefit from the opportunities presented by the project.

Mrs. Ayoade urged the committee members to approach their responsibilities with dedication and diligence, emphasizing the importance of regular meetings and the development of effective plans to institutionalize the project in the State.

The Committee Members are as follows:- Hajia Fatima Momoh, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development – Chairman- Alhaji Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning – Member- Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, Commissioner for Health – Member- Timothy Ojomah, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security – Member- Muhammed Muktar Shuaibu, Commissioner for Commerce & Industry – Member- Eunice Abimbola Grace, representative of NGO – Member- Dr. Esther Amladaǰi, State Project Coordinator – Secretary

The Committee’s terms of reference include supporting the operationalization of Women Affinity Groups as platforms for delivering developmental activities and ensuring that each sector/ministry has clearly identified its priority actions in line with the State’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
