ACHIEVEMENTS
Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, KEDA is an agency established by Kogi State law under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the purpose of Stimulating, Monitoring and Controlling Enterprises Development for Social and Economic Development of Kogi State.
In the last one year, KEDA has been able to carry out The following:
CONSULTATIVE TOUR TO SELECTED RICE FARM HOLDERS IN THE STATE
Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, KEDA, Managed by Hajiya Rekiya Onaivo majoring in Small and Micro Enterprises, has within a short time embarked on a consultative tour to select rice farm holders in the state.
ENHANCING THE CAPABILITIES OF SMEs
The Agency has partnered with relevant stakeholders in a bid to achieve its set goals and objectives which is, transforming the business sector of the state and enhancing the capabilities of micro and small businesses.
PARTNERSHIP WITH TECHNICAL PARTNERS
KEDA has gained the attention of CBN, Micro Finance Banks.
as parts of efforts to form multiple approaches to solving the problems bedeviling the SME sector of the state
During the tour visit to selected rice farms in the state by KEDA, it was discovered that one of the rice farms in Okuma which is located on the outskirts of Lokoja produces 70 tons annually.
PARTNERSHIP WITH MAMF GLOBAL FOR MUSHROOM FARMING/WOMEN EMPOWERMENT IN KOGI
Recently, KEDA as the implementing partner for the Mushroom farming led the Team on an Inspection for the Proposed Sites for the Fungiculture Women Initiative.
The Yahaya Bello Administration inspects farmlands
for the proposed initiative of large scale Mushroom cluster cultivation in the state. This is
an ongoing partnership with Mbeng Adio Mushroom Farming (MAMF) Global company in collaboration with the International Office, Delaware in USA.
MAMF technical team visits the State for the second time in a bid to inspect the most viable farm land for the pilot mushroom cultivation and production.
According to the technical lead person for MAMF, Dr. Mrs. Hannatu Musa, MAMF Project Chief Mycologist found Kogi State to be the most privileged States of the Federation to have a very good location with large quantity of water moistures.
MAMF is a US-based organic mushroom cultivation, production and training outfit founded by Mrs. Bridget Mbeng to create an estimated 5,000 direct jobs, economic empowerments and sustainability which forms the of the Yahaya Bello Model for Agriculture as envisioned for the State.
Mushrooms are high-value crops with rising demands across the world.
GYB/ CEDO EBIGO HANDOVER OF ONE MILLION NAIRA CHEQUE TO EBIGO FOUNDATION SME AWARDEES THROUGH KEDA
Also, KEDA, through the state government has been able to support GYB/EBIGO awardees with one million naira cash to enhance their businesses. For optimum performance of the awardees, KEDA has continued to interface with them to ensure the funds are used for what it is meant for and to provide necessary supports to the entrepreneurs where they are facing challenges.
SENSITIZATION OF BUSINESS OWNERS/STAKEHOLDERS AND ASPIRING ENTERPRENEURS
KEDA has carried out series of sensitization programs in the Small and Micro Enterprises(SMEs )sector of the state, parts of which is the sensitization of Heads of Cooperatives in Lokoja, ahead of the NG-CARES
program, sensitization of stakeholders, meetings with Heads of Commercial Banks and Financial Institutions as well as Trade Unions/Artisans in the State.
Sequel to this, the Federal Government Assessment Team visited Kogi, inspects level of preparation and then passed a vote of confidence on the agency.
TRUST
KEDA has been able to build trust in the minds of business owners in the state by providing the necessary supports at its disposal as part of efforts to make Kogi State a market hub and a food basket of the nation.
MEDIA PARTNERSHIP
Under the leadership of Hajiya Rekiya Onaivo, KEDA has been able to form a robust partnership with the media houses for proper awareness,documentation and projection of its programs and activities in the SMEs sector within a short period.
SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT OF SMEs
According to the KEDA MD, the agency has been able to offer guidance to entrepreneurs in terms of business plans and every other support that can enhance their businesses.
KEDA has been working assiduously to encourage unity amongst various trade unions across the 21 LGAs of the state.
GENDER INCLUSIVENESS
KEDA is running an inclusive program by carrying women and disabled persons in the SME sector along to ensure no one is left out.
KEDA under the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program NG-CARES, KEDA is handling and coordinating Result Area 3 which is facilitating recovery of SMEs and enhancing business capacities in Kogi State.
KEDA has been working and meeting with all stake holders to ensure the effective execution of the project as managed by the MD/CEO Hajiya Rekiya Onaivo Sanni.
KEDA is committed to the Ease of Doing Business in Kogi.
