Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commended the Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, Dr. Fashagba Paul Femi, for his remarkable achievements and milestones in his first 100 days in office.
The Governor made the commendation on Wednesday during the 100 days in office celebration of the Provost at the college convocation Arena in Ankpa.
Governor Ododo represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, praised Dr. Femi’s exceptional leadership, dedication, and vision in steering the college towards progress and excellence. He noted that the Provost’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student welfare has been truly inspiring and commendable.
According to the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor Mr Unubi Emmanuel, the Governor highlighted significant improvements in infrastructure development, academic programs, and overall college governance under Dr. Femi’s leadership. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the entire management, staff, and students of the College in realizing these achievements.
The Governor expressed confidence in Dr. Femi’s leadership, saying that the College, will continue to flourish and thrive beyond boundaries under his watch, while assuring them of government commitment to addressing the challenges facing the institution.
Ealier, Dr. Fashagba Paul Femi, the Provost of the Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, said that upon assuming office, the major challenges confronting the institution included the establishment of standard educational practices and research, as well as the provision of water supply, electricity, and security for both staff and students. He noted that he has successfully addressed these issues, which constitute part of his significant successes during his first 100 days in office.
He noted that plans have been set in motion for the reconstruction of roads to facilitate movement within the college campus, while appealing for the implementation of promotion arias for the college staff, and advocated the need for the successful passage and assent of the bill in the house of Assembly to allow the college of education confer both NCE and degree certificates, so as to accommodate a greater number of students in the institution.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by Hon. Shehu Seidu Ahmodu, Member Representing Ofu state Constituency at the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Momoh Rabiu Alfa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Adejoh Nicodemus, Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, and Dr. M.K Ibrahim, Provost, Kogi State College of Education, Technical, Mopa, among others.
The event was equally graced by Pst. Mrs. Folashade Arike AyoAde, Ph.D, Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Hon. Akus Lawal, Assembly Member representing Ankpa I state Constituency at the House of Assembly, Dr. Helen Adeniyi, Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Oladele John Nihi, Adviser to the Governor on Students Affairs, among other government officials.
Highpoint of the program was the commissioning of the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo Skill Acquisition and entrepreneurial centre at the college premises, by the Deputy Governor.
