The E.D. made this statement during the State Emergency Routine Immunization and COVID-19 Coordination (SERICC) meeting at the State Immunization Office in Lokoja
The State Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre (SERICC) is a strategic platform designed to improve the coordination and management of routine immunization activities at the state level in Nigeria The centre plays a vital role in enhancing accountability, ensuring the timely implementation of immunization programs, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
Key functions of SERICC include:
– Coordination and management of immunization activities
– Promoting accountability and transparency by engaging civil society organizations (CSOs)
– Capacity building and advocacy
SERICC collaborates closely with other platforms, such as the National Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre (NERICC) and the Local Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre (LERICC), to strengthen immunization systems and improve health outcomes across Nigeria.
During the meeting, Dr. Musa urged all stakeholders to consistently attend these gatherings, as they provide opportunities to rectify systemic anomalies. He stressed the importance of focusing on the program to ensure accountability and professionalism in their respective roles.
Khadija Garba, Program Manager of the Kogi State Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre, highlighted that the meeting was organized to address challenges from previous activities. She noted the necessity of convening after the Measles Rubella Immunization program to discuss improvements for future exercises.
