In a show of solidarity and passion,the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Acharu Okpanachi, was at Shiffah Hospital and the state Specialist Hospital, Lokoja for on the spot accessment of victims of Wednesday accident along the Lokoja-Okene highway which claimed six lives and left several others injured.

Mrs Acharu Okpanachi who paid an unscheduled visit to the patients described the development as a very painful moments for the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development , noting that those who died were patriotic people who had gathered to celebrate inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities.

Filled with emotion for the patients, the Commissioner met privately with them and assured of the Ministry’s preparedness to stand with them through the trying period.

At the Shiffah and Specialist Specialist Hospital in Lokoja, Mrs Acharu Okpanachi prayed God for a quick healing on the patients and offered them cash donations to help in settling the bills.

She personally interacted with the injured victims, encouraging them to remain strong while assuring them of God’s divine healing on them stressing that her passion for the sick was born out of the Governor’s desire to see the people of the state in good health noting that the recovery of the patients was a priority to her.

Addressing reporters, the wife of the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney general of the state, Princess Halimat Abdullahi expressed joy and thanked God for the ongoing treatment, calling on the Medical personnel in both hospitals to work assiduously at ensuring the health of people.

Speaking on behalf of the patients, a victim and survivor of the accident, and an All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy State women leader, Habitat Musa Alabi, thanked the commissioner for her kind gesture and promised to remain faithful to the Party.

The accident occurred on Thursday along the Lokoja–Okene highway as they were returning from the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the Government House, Lokoja.
