The Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has been commended for the appointment of Mr. Alabi Albert Bamigbade as the Permanent Secretary of Kogi State Ministry of Education.
The Commendation was made by the Old Students Association of Okehi Community Secondary School, Uboro, President of the Association Comrade Jimoh Aliyu Itopa gave the commendation while leading the Executive of Association on a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary on Tuesday.
He stated that the appointment of Mr. Alabi as a Permanent Secretary is a product of hard work, discipline and dedication to duties, assuring that Permanent Secretary being a product of Okehi Community Secondary School will live up to his responsibilities.
Comrade Jimoh who commended the efforts of the Old Students Association for their role in reviving the schools appealed to the Permanent Secretary to use his good office to address some challenges of the School
The School he noted lacked teachers in core subjects and security, adding that the science equipments donated by some personalities through the efforts of the Association cannot be kept in the school for lack of security.
In his response, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Mr Alabi Albert thanked the Association for the visit and their efforts in reviving the school, noting that the school has brought the name of Uboro Community to limelight as it has produced personalities like the current Kogi State Head of Service Dr. Elijah Adieza Evinemi and many others.
He urged the School to continue to uphold the values the School was known for and refrain from engaging in Examination malpractices as according to him “it is a cankerworm that does no one no good.”
The Permanent Secretary commended the Governor for the giant strides he has made in Education, noting that the allocation of the 30% of the State Budget to Education, Free Education policy for students in Public Schools and the payment of all intake and exit examinations for students in Public Schools have repositioned the State Education Sector.
He appealed for patience as the State Government is committed to ensuring that children of school going age in the State have access to quality, accessible and affordable education.
He appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the opportunity given to him in this capacity and promised not to let the State down in the discharge of his duties.
