In a significant move towards enhancing infrastructure and promoting rural development, the Executive Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Joshua Dare Monday, has officially commenced the grading of the 15-kilometer Imela to Ogbom road. This initiative underscores his dedication to improving the quality of life for residents through effective, community-focused governance.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and community leaders, represents a pivotal advancement in the administration’s strategy to facilitate economic activities, improve transportation, and ease mobility for farmers and traders within Yagba East.
During his address at the event, Hon. Dr. Joshua Dare emphasized that the project fulfills a key campaign promise to the residents of Ogbom and surrounding communities. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to honoring the social contract with the populace.
“During the campaign, I pledged to address the needs of every community, particularly those with inadequate road access. Today’s commencement is not merely a project; it is the realization of that promise. We are resolute in our mission to bring governance closer to the people, and this road grading project is a crucial step in that direction,” he stated.
Hon. Dare assured that his administration would continue to implement infrastructural projects across all wards in Yagba East, ensuring inclusivity and equitable development.
The Chairman also expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support and for prioritizing the development of local government areas throughout Kogi State.
“We will continue to work hand in hand
with the people. My administration is for everyone, and I assure you that more developmental projects are on the way. Let’s join hands to protect and sustain the progress we are making together,” the Chairman added.
In his goodwill message, Chief P. Luke, the representative of the Ogbom traditional institution, expressed profound appreciation to the Council Chairman for remembering the Ogbom people. He stated that the grading of the road was a long-awaited intervention that would ease movement and boost economic activities in the area.
> “For years, our people have yearned for this. The road has been a major challenge, especially during the rainy season. Today, we are happy to see a responsive government at work. On behalf of our revered king and the entire Ogbom community, we say thank you, Mr. Chairman, for this historic gesture,” Chief Luke said.
Similarly, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, the member representing Yagba East Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, commended the Chairman for his proactive leadership and alignment with the developmental agenda of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

This project complements the efforts of the state government under the able leadership of Governor Ododo, whose focus on rural development continues to inspire local action. I commend the Chairman for translating promises into visible progress,” Hon. Obaro stated.
Also lending his voice, the Chairman of the South East Traditional Council and the Olukotun of Ife-Olukotun, HRH Oba Shaibu Muhammed Ayegbajeje, lauded the initiative as a sign of purposeful leadership.
