Team Kogi State has won two gold medals in table tennis at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

In the girls’ singles final, Ize Sezuo Aziza defeated her opponent from Abia State, three sets to nothing.
In the boys’ singles, Marvellous Joseph beat his opponent from Osun State, three sets to two, to seal the victory.

Reacting after the matches, Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Monday Anyebe, said sports in Kogi state have come to stay.

Hon Monday Anyebe noted that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains committed to the growth of sports in the state with a further commitment to youth transformation.

Represented by the Director of Sports Development, Mr. Paul Aje, the Commissioner congratulated the athletes for making the state proud.

The Chairman of the Kogi State Table Tennis Association, Dr. Shaibu Muhammad, also praised the players, describing the victory as well-deserved.

He urged sports lovers to support government efforts, noting that sports development requires collaboration.

Meanwhile, the Gold medalists, Marvellous Joseph and Ize Sezuo Aziza have expressed gratitude to the State government for the opportunity to compete.

They promised to remain committed to making Kogi State and Nigeria proud.
