The Kogi State Government, under the leadership of the Chief Servant, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reiterated its commitment to creating a conducive environment for learners in order to guarantee competent and reliable future leaders.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr Ebenezer Adurodija stated this in his office on Wednesday while receiving the chairman and members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Kogi State Chapter.

He stated that “The Kogi State Government through the Ministry of Information and Communications is committed to creating an environment that will make learning and leadership very easy for our people. We are putting things together to digitalise learning to ensure that we get our people back to reading with smartphones and other electric gadgets”, he noted.

Speaking further, Mr Ebenezer assured the Association of the Ministry’s collaboration and maximum support as the Association and the Ministry are saddled with similar roles and responsibilities which include enlightening and educating the citizenry on government’s programmes and policies.

He commended the Association for safeguarding the cultural heritage of the people through their write-up and encouraged the ANA to engage in an endowment fund launching in order to assist young writers who do not have capacity to produce their work in a hardcopy, adding that the Ministry under the leadership of the Commissioner, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo would always align with ANA’s aspirations.

The Permanent Secretary urged the citizenry to cultivate the habit of reading, stressing that reading should not be limited to the periods of examination, noting that it should be a routine and habit to enhance competence, effectiveness and efficiency.

Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Kogi State Chapter, Comrade Y.J Itopa commended the Chief Servant of the state, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering commitment towards transformative development across the sectors.

He also commended the Ministry for its usual support and collaboration and expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for his support and cooperation.

According to him, the Association of Nigerian Authors was formed on June 27th, 1981, saddled with the responsibility of enlightening and educating society through writing and publishing.
