The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development wishes to thank all well-meaning members of the public for their concern, swift intervention, and for drawing the attention of the Kogi State Government to the unfortunate case involving a young girl who is a minor.

We wish to inform the general public that the matter has been duly reported to the appropriate authorities, and investigations are currently ongoing. The child is in safe custody, receiving the necessary care and support, while due process is being followed.

In accordance with the Child Rights Law of Kogi State (2009) and the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, we respectfully urge the public and media outlets to refrain from sharing unblurred images, videos, or any identifying information of the minor. Doing so may expose her to further trauma, lead to stigmatisation, and hinder her reintegration into society.

The Ministry reiterates its commitment to ensuring justice, healing, and protection for all children and survivors of abuse across the State.

We also assure the public that this case, like others, is receiving the full attention it deserves.
