The Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Dr. Muazu Musa Omeiza, recently conducted an advocacy visit to the Ohimege Igu of Koton-Karfe and Chairman of the Lokoja Koton Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Alh. Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu. The purpose of the visit was to sensitize the community on the importance of Routine Immunization (RI).

During the visit, Dr. Muazu expressed gratitude for the monarch’s longstanding contributions and commitment to the health sector. He assured the Ohimege of Koton-Karfe that his administration is dedicated to ensuring effective and efficient healthcare services are provided to the community. Dr. Muazu also encouraged community members to take advantage of the health services available to them.

Furthermore, Dr. Muazu extended his sincere appreciation to the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, for his unwavering support, dedication, and significant impact on the lives of Kogi State residents. These achievements are a testament to the leadership of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. Governor Ododo has played a crucial role in advancing the state’s healthcare system, with notable progress in health insurance, medical education, and healthcare infrastructure enhancement.”
The ED also acknowledged the collective efforts, commitment, and professionalism of staff at the State Primary Healthcare facilities for their tireless service delivery to the people.

The objectives of the visit were to emphasize the importance of routine immunization and seek traditional backing for optimal service delivery. To also develop an effective community mobilization strategy.

The key participants and their roles in the visitation was the Director Disease Control & Immunization (DDCI)-Mrs Odaudu Deborah, her opening remarks emphasized on the importance of RI and seeks support from traditional rulers on their participation in creating awareness of health care services to the community.

The PM SERIC- Hajia Khadijat Garuba gave an outline on the objectives, scopes, and roles of traditional rulers in community mobilization.

The Director for Community Health Services & Social Development (DCHS/SD)- Dr. Abdullahi Onimisi equally highlighted the health benefits of RI and urged chiefs and youths to commit to the awareness movement in order to foster adequate health care services in the community.

Various outcomes and commitments came from
HRM Alh. Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, who pledged his utmost support and gratitude to the agency.

Goodwill messages were received from Development Partners, representatives from WHO, CHIGARI FOUNDATION, JSI, and UNICEF VSL.
