As part of efforts to mitigate perennial flooding in Kogi State, Executive Secretary, Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alh Mouktar Atimah, led Flood Disaster Response team to visit SUBEB and the Nigeria Red Cross Society in Lokoja.
At SUBEB, Atimah made his remarks by emphasizing on the need for robust synergy in mitigating anticipated flood and thanked them for a long standing cooperation.
His words: The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, has charged the Agency to ensure safety of lives and property in any forms of disasters, and we are partnering with all relevant stakeholders in Disaster risk reduction and effective management of disaster impacts. He, however, sought for enhanced collaboration, synergy and support that could complement the proactive measures and preparedness of the Agency.
Responding, the SUBEB Chairman, Mallam Abdulrazak Muhammed Yusuf, appreciated the Flood Disaster Response Team for the visit and recognition.
He thanked SEMA team and renewed the SUBEB’s cooperation and collaboration.
In a similar vein, the team equally visited Nigeria Red Cross and team was received by the State Branch Secretary, Mr Don Danjuma.
While speaking during this visit, Executive Secretary KOSEMA, referenced to the past working relationship and cooperation between SEMA and the Organization, especially during flood disaster. He appealed for continuity, calling for more collaboration and support towards 2025 impending flood.
In his response, the State Branch Secretary, Mr Don Danjuma, appreciated Flood Disaster Response Team for the visit, and echoed his happiness over SEMA’s progress.
Furthermore, he reiterated their readiness to support Kogi State Government through SEMA in mitigating impending flood.
The exercise, which was conducted in Lokoja also witnessed presence of relevant stakeholders which included the Special Adviser on SEMA to Kogi State Governor, Dr. Sandra Musa; and Special Adviser on IDPs to Kogi State Governor, Hon. Jibrin Ibrahim.
