Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones says the Ministry of Education will continue to implement policies that will improve the quality of education in the State inline with global standards.

The Commissioner who gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Lokoja said, the present administration is bent on reduction of poverty through education and warned against any attempt to truncate the system or vision.

He described formal academic activities as an evolving procedure that operates within the time frame of resumption, mid term break, terminal examination, final closure and holiday.

The Commissioner maintained that the State will continue to stick to its academic calendar and avoid unwarranted disruptions.

He also warned against those attempting to frustrate the free education policy of the state which has recorded a significant success emphasizing that such an attempt will be accompanied by punitive measures from the state government.

Speaking on technical and vocational training in the State, Wemi Jones assured that the Government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will continue to put everything in place to sustain its standard and improved where necessary to ensure the state technical schools benefit from the Federal Government policy on technical and vocational education.

He said that the state has four technical colleges situated in Ankpa, Idah, Okehi and Mopa, and promised the commitment of the State Government to ensure that the colleges are modernized, ICT compliance and the programs accredited by the National Board for Technical Education to enable the colleges benefit from the Federal Government intervention for technical colleges across the country.
