The Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Labour matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka has urged workers in the state to begin to set their agenda ahead of the twenty twenty seven Governorship election.
Edoka was speaking at a May Day Dinner organized as part of activities to mark the 2025 May Day celebration in the state.
He noted that what was paramount about politics is that of interest, explaining that the prompt payment of Salaries to workers should be considered very seriously in order to avoid future regrets.
“I want to tell you sincerely at the forum that Politics is all about interest and so, what workers actually want is their salaries, this is where their interests should be, it is on this note that the leadership of the organized Labour should begin to set their agenda ahead of 2027 because the time to start is now” Edoka avered.
He praised the present administration for its love for workers as demonstrated through the early approval and implementation of the new national minimum wage and other workers friendly policies.
According to him, every past labour leader paid the supreme price, which is why the present labour leaders should also be commended for recognizing such efforts by their predecessors, saying who ever made the list is because they made impacts.
“We have a good government, and the onus lies on workers to pray for the Governor, while I urge the
Workers to closerank and set agenda for the re-election of Governor Ododo”, Comrade Edoka added.
Comrade Edoka who also received an award of excellence at the event, Called for harmonious working relationship between government and labour for the progress of the state, adding that Labour is one family and advised against divisive tendencies.
Earlier, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Amari Gabriel said the dinner was to celebrate the May Day as it was the second May Day celebration in the life of this administration which has made positive impact on the lives of workers.
Comrade Amari also explained that the event was to equally honour some past leaders who paid the supreme price, stressing that there is need for sober reflection.
