By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh Lokoja September 1, 2025 The House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services has commended Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's administration for its efforts in revitalizing primary healthcare centers and improving healthcare delivery in the state. The committee, led by Hon. Amos Magaji, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo today in Lokoja, where they discussed ways to enhance healthcare services in the state. The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Comrade Joel Salifu, assured the committee that his administration is committed to improving healthcare delivery in the state. He highlighted the government's achievements, including the revitalization of over 70 primary healthcare centers and the approval of over N1 billion for counterpart funding of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund. Comrade Joel Salifu reaffirmed the Governor's commitment to improving health services in the state, emphasizing that "stakeholders at the rural centers are cooperating to ensure the delivery of superior health services". He also assured the team that the Governor is making concerted efforts to "recruit more health workers", stating that the Governor's intervention to introduce and accredit health courses in tertiary institutions is aimed at providing a greater number of qualified personnel for the sector. He lauded the purposeful approach of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards the Renewed Hope Agenda to revitalize the health sector, saying that the state is a significant beneficiary of the President's commendable initiatives.
