Biography

Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, an Associate Professor from the University of Ilorin, brings a wealth of academic and professional expertise to his role as the pioneer Commissioner for the Ministry of Livestock Development in Kogi State. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), a Master’s degree in Agricultural Communication from (OAU), and a PhD in Agriculture with a specialization in Animal Production Extension from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.

He worked with the World Bank as Kogi State Project Coordinator for L-PRES 2024-2025.

Dr. Bolarin was the Project Coordinator for the Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) in Kogi State from 2020- 2024.

He was the Rapporteur for the Retreat on Livestock and Dairy Development in Nigeria Co-host by FMARD and African Business Roundtable June 7th-8th, 2016 at Abuja, Nigeria.

He was the Commissioner for Agriculture in Kogi State from 2012-2014.

Dr. Bolarin has participated in Setting Agenda for commercializing Livestock and Dairy commodity value chain in Nigeria.

Dr. Bolarin was a Team Leader for Nigeria Livestock Census conducted in the year 2006 by FAO.

Dr. Bolarin is a member of Strategic Committee for the establishment of Grazing Reserve and Cattle Route in Nigeria.

Dr. Bolarin’s influence extends beyond Nigeria, with international exposure and experience in agriculture across countries such as China, Denmark, United States of America, Australia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Kenya. His exposure to global best practices in agriculture and development.
